TDM 009
❬ ARRIVAL ❭
Arrival does not happen normally. While the AI known as Aurora would typically handle your incoming- this time it is instead a strange coincidence. And while she would ordinarily contact you, provide you with context and access to the network- she cannot currently reach you. One moment, you are where you were, and now you’re here: in the middle of some kind of Comic-Con looking event. Weirder still: you now have some kind of super power. You will find that your arrival on this Earth may have granted you new capabilities - perhaps someone without abilities is now able to fly, or someone with their own set of extraordinary abilities now has something new to help with.
❬ SUPERFEST ❭
Not to be confused with Hero-Con or Villian-Con. This is a fan-made convention in downtown SF that takes place during a prime Con weekend that boasts that everyone is welcome here. Well, as long as they adhere to Con Rules. Sleep, Eat, Drink Water, Shower, and don’t blast any holes in the walls. They already have enough of those. Despite the recent Kaiju attack with corresponding tsunamis and earthquakes, the Convention Runners are utterly committed. Though it is held and hosted by fans, there’s a nice variety of Artists, Exhibitors, Panels, as well as a live-streamed Cosplay Contest. Artist’s Alley & Dealer’s Hall Are you even a slightly public hero or villain? Find fan art, merch, even fan comics of yourself and your friends- Or enemies. Panels You don’t even need to have anything planned! Seems like there were some cancellations. Slip in and talk about whatever you like. Cosplay Contest Wear your own costume to the contest- Or find a knock off of someone else’s in the Dealer’s Hall. The Water That Makes You Stupid Yes, the convention is staffed and run by fans… But it’s still run by someone, isn’t it? The badge line is long and the weather is sweltering. Grab a SUPERFEST branded water for $12- Or drink from the fountains as soon as you get into the con center. The Convention President is testing a chemical that will make you harmlessly stupider for a handful of hours to loosen wallets and increase overall enjoyment of convention activities.
❬ THE DIVIDE ❭
First earthquakes and tsunamis culminating in wide scale Kaiju attacks, now this. It’s more subtle than any of those things, but reports of people being dragged by some invisible force or teleporting cross town start emerging. And these people all have powers. But none of them are on your corresponding apps, nor in your network. Weird. It would really be best to investigate this matter. After all, it seems the Hero and Villain organizations (League of Heroes and Vale & Venture) want more information, and if possible- to recruit members before the other does.
❬ THE SAN FRAN WALKING TOUR ❭
For the first three days, the boundary that new arrivals can travel seems very stable. It’s centered upon the convention center, shifting no more than a couple of city blocks in any direction. The boundary is completely invisible and totally indestructible. It can only be found by touching it. After those first three days, though, the boundary starts to move, and the newly warped in have no choice but to come along with it, even if they end up dragged through traffic or made to make hasty exits from buildings. Yet should they come truly against something they cannot escape- Like a closed alleyway or a freight train, they will find themselves spontaneously clipping through the force field boundary and projected onto the inside opposite end of the bubble. It must be disorienting to be thrown a few miles from where you just were.
❬ MISSION NOTES ❭
📌 — This Earth heavily resembles current-day Earth. All cities will be what we would find on the map of our Earth - meaning, there is no Gotham, or any fictional cities in play. Players are free to create their own locations within locations! We won't be monitoring this closely, and want to give players free reign to play with the environment around them as they would like. 📌 — TL;DR: A body-hopping interstellar being has come to visit Earth 2’s San Fransisco for the Fan Convention as well as provide a self-guided walking tour. Newcomers to the TDM are stuck inside the several mile radius of his force-field. He doesn’t know it’s happening, but the Force Field is impenetrable for TDMers, and will push and pull them around San Francisco during these two weeks. 📌 — This setting is from our current Off-World Mission. Additional details can be found HERE. 📌 — Characters already in game are welcome to post to the TDM, too! Please mark them as current characters in your header. 📌 — Because of the way newcomers are arriving, players are welcome to treat this as a fourth wall event of sorts! Threads can be remembered by those in game even if those they speak to do not app, as long as it's approved by all necessary parties. 📌 — For all questions relating to the TDM specifically, please use the MOD QUERIES comment below. All other questions can be directed to the FAQ.

Verso's tease and the gesture toward the barrier garners him a cool stare, long-suffering. Nice to see some things remain the same, she supposes. "I'm good, thanks."
Lune crosses her arms loosely over her chest and cocks a hip. It's her turn to look slightly amused. "How honest would you like me to be?"
That's probably an answer in itself.
no subject
It's a familiar banter between them. His smile only widens at hearing her cooled response back. Of course, he is only gesturing in general as to where the barrier might be. He thinks it's a bit rude that it's invisible, but what can they do? Throw paint on it?
"We don't have to be honest right now with each other." He holds his hands up in surrender as he accepts her answer as the answer. "Anyway, are you sure that you're all right?"
All banter and teasing aside, he does take another step forward to give her a look over to make sure that she seems all right.
no subject
Lune levels him with a steady gaze, tired and irritated all at once. She was the one to bring up honesty in the first place, he's just quipping back as usual. But she can't help but think: was there ever a time when they were honest with each other? It sounds too dramatic even in the privacy of her own head. It's still too close; the Gommage, everything that happened at the Monolith. She needs time to examine everything more closely.
"As all right as can be expected after watching everyone in Lumière Gommage." So there is that. Her arms tighten across her chest, as if physically holding something back or keeping it within. "And how have you been?"
no subject
But at her reply, he blinks -- his expression shifts almost on a dime. The concern builds upon his face; corner of his mouth twists downward in an anxious frown. He glances away toward the sidewalk instead of looking at her face. Another slow blink, his head is back up and making eye contact; the look he gives remains the same with a mixture of guilt.
"Mm." A small noise; he draws his gaze around how she holds herself. His chin bobs a few times in half-hearted nods. "As all right as one can be." He echoes the reply back.
Breathing deeply, he dips his gaze down (not looking at anything this time, stare unfocusing) before it returns. "I'm still not sure where that barrier is, but come on, I can't imagine being flung wherever helps much. So, how about we pick up a quick drink?" A tilt of his head to the side as he specifies with a soft joke. "Non-alcoholic."
no subject
But there's no point standing here, staring at one another. She would like to hear more about how he's been managing here. She wouldn't necessarily mind an alcoholic drink either, but maybe that ought to be saved for another time.
She nods, expression clearing into a brief smile. "Sure. A drink would be nice." Motioning with one hand, she adds, "Lead the way, I'm at your mercy."
Truer statement than she might realize.
no subject
With a shifting step back, he heads back down where he came. His head tilts to the side; he knows he shouldn't take a light tone so soon but doesn't feel like darkening her thoughts further. "Thankfully, there seems to be a coffee shop on every block of this city."
His chin dips as he keeps his smile small and soft. "Kidding. It's probably more like every two blocks."
He turns his head slightly in her direction before shifting his gaze ahead of them. "I'm sure the others are relieved to see you." A beat. "I'm also happy that you're here." Verso thinks he shouldn't speak constantly on the others regardless of what he knows to be true.
no subject
She doesn't take offense at the lighter tone, even still trying to wrap her head around all... this, a few days after arrival. They'll have time for less lighter topics, probably sooner rather than later. She doesn't bother confirming what Verso already seems to know is true regarding the reactions of the others, instead giving a short hum of vague amusement when he goes on.
"Are you? Is nobody interrogating you with personal questions enough?"
no subject
A casual remark back about how much he's been interrogated. He supposes that he hears more of those interrogations from those of his world than anyone else. His eyes trace after invisible patterns in front of them. No one else has any reason to ask him anything yet he's seeking out the stories others have. It's hardly fair, but --
"I guess I'm just not that interesting." His head tilts away. "But what've you been doing since you've come here?" There's a soft apology in not having found her sooner. Woven in the words. In the tone that he uses. He still thinks it is good the others met her first, though.
no subject
"Beyond trying to wrap my head around... all this?" A casual motion of her hand to the general surrounds. "Not too much, yet. Sciel's been looking after me like a mother hen so I don't make too much trouble just yet."
That's not why, of course, and Lune's fond tone indicates as much. Truthfully, she would have been so very lost if Sciel hadn't found her and brought her to Maelle... Gustave. She would have managed on her own, but it would have been difficult.
no subject
His shoulders give a little bounce. He wonders why no one asks him anything, but it may simply because they don't know him. Once they come to know him, the questions might start -- and he isn't sure what he'll be able to give as answers.
"Mm." He tips his chin in a small nod. "That makes sense."
His head turns slightly towards her. "Not the trouble part but that Sciel's looking out for you." A brief smile comes and goes. He tips his chin up as he stares at the sky briefly, mulling over his own thoughts.
Verso did slightly confirm that she met the others, but what others. Just Sciel? His eyes drift back down and he adds, softly, "Maelle ... and Gustave are also somewhere in this city, I think."
He chooses to say this slowly, carefully, unsure what she does or doesn't know. Wondering if Sciel is carefully introducing her to these bits of information or if she already knows.
no subject
It probably isn't. And her tone indicates she isn't joking. But for once she'll control herself, save those for another day. No reason to (potentially) sour this meeting with her sharp inquiries.
"Yeah, I know. I've met them." She sobers a little here, still thrown by this existence where Gustave is there, whole and healthy and within reach once more.
"I also know Renoir is here." Her head turns a little to glance at him sideways, to gauge his reaction. She isn't unsympathetic to his situation. "That can't be... easy for you."
