![]() ⏵ arrival ⏴ Arrival is absolutely not normal this month. Instead of a hospital bed, you wake in a tunnel with a large group of other people. These are the residents. A woman’s voice in an earpiece hurriedly clues you in with an apology. I apologize; I had not planned to introduce you this way, but we are low on time. Please proceed down the hallway. For everyone else, coming in is much the same. The instruction goes out to head to designated areas immediately, where companion bots will escort the residents of Etraya down into the depths, the area beneath where much the same is explained. ![]() ⏵ disrobing ⏴ The tunnel eventually opens directly into the foreroom of an expansive library, painted in marvelous hues and patterns with skylights far above. There are wizards milling about, bearded and holding tomes, quietly chatting amongst themselves. The reception area of the library has tall ceilings with equally tall doors Before you get too caught up in the scenery, a voice directs you forward. A gentleman, hunched and bespeckled craws out. "Make a line! Make a line, everyone! You cannot enter the library dressed as you are... Come forward and give me your name." The receptionist asks your given name and then hands over a box from underneath his counter. You can give him any name you want, he doesn’t seem to mind. It is tied with a tagged ribbon- labeling it accordingly. “The _____ robe of _______.”
As you read what the contents of the box may be, they form inside- Looking and behaving as your character expects them to. After all, magic is all in the wielder’s mind. Don your robes and enter the library. ![]() ⏵ unfamiliar familiars ⏴ For those without a familiar (like one hatched from an egg not too long ago) you may borrow one from the library counter. They all have strengths and weaknesses, but they will all assist in the very important mission. As you roam the library, they will make little indications that you are closer or further from finding a piece of the pearl.
![]() ⏵ the task at hand ⏴ With robes donned and creature in hand, you must now complete your mission. Find the pieces of the shattered pearl. As you enter the library, you may notice that it’s all very dim. There’s oil lamps around the place that may be moved with you to assist in your journey if your robes do not already emit light. Break off and search the library. There is a directory at the front to point guests to all the different sections.
Each section looks enough like the last, though the books within have immense power. Pick up the wrong book, and you might conjure a dragon or a historical figure! You must persist and avoid making too much noise or breaking too many things. Or else the Librarian, a tall mass of knotted fabric will confiscate your robe and usher you back outside. Your name will be struck from the list, and you must pick a new one to re-enter the library to continue the search. You can try to fight back against him- he may be set alight with the lamp. But should you be starting fires in here? Any thread with 15 comments between you and another may be submitted to find a piece of the pearl. There are 20 pieces altogether, and we will determine if the mission was successful by March 28th. A post will go live on the OOC comm for this! This mission occurs out of time, similar to how the spaceship had. Meaning, those currently in game can experience these events any time between now, and March 14th. Please direct all questions to our mod queries comment! |

[A staircase made of ice snaps into place. He forms a sword of ice in one hand and swings to the right, warming up his wrist. The plant hisses, leaves rattling as it senses the change in temperature.] I’ll give you a signal before I reach the roots.
no subject
And when the ice stairs form, he gives Kaeya a nod in acknowledgement, knowing to look for the signal when he gives it.]
No dying out there, comrade.
[And without a second's hesitation, he's flying up those stairs as if he's lived on ice his whole life, hydro blades snapping into his hands as he launches himself up and over the shelves. His goal- get to that flower towering above the shelves and make sure it never notices Kaeya to begin with, if not try to sever the flower from the vines itself.]

Magic blooms as the knight focuses and on the light of his magic he gets a look at his ally.
Ah.
He moves to the left as he sends a wash of ice at the vines. The flower hisses again, exposing needle like teeth among the petals. He mentally breaks the stairs he has made and dashes along the top of a shelf to the left.
His tactics reorder themselves, slotting in his comrade’s capabilities. To the right, vibes slither up the shelves to try to catch Childe.]

It's for the best though, it makes it interesting for him.
While Kaeya moves to the left, Childe puts himself dangerously close to the vines that whip up and try to catch up so they can stuff him right into the plant's gaping maw. But each one is met with a timely end, water spraying as they're cut in half over and over again with a honed expertise. One vine slams into a shelf that makes the Harbinger slip as it topples over, but he seems as confident as ever even as he slides down towards the floor, vines coming in for him.]
A valiant effort, but not good enough.
[He kicks himself up off of the falling shelving in a flash, the plant missing its mark as he launches himself upward and back on his path toward the flower, eye flicking over to try to find Kaeya to make sure he was alright as well.]

Best not to catch their attention with an attack. Most of the vines need to be Childe’s problem. Or joy. Whichever he thinks it is. He flips off the shelf and into the darkness. A spark of icy magic swirls in his wake. He has reached his target.
He gathers power and waits for Childe to swing before he strikes. Time to put this damn thing back in the book in his robe.]

Noticing that his companion seems to be doing just fine on his own over there, that leaves him with the ability to concentrate fully on making fast work of the plant's vines that constantly come for him over and over. Even ones that manage to graze him are quickly dispatched, and he weaves in and out of them with ease, like a dancer executing their routine perfectly.
It doesn't take him long to reach the plant's head, snapping viciously at him, knowing he's there from all the commotion he's making. Tartaglia doesn't say anything, he only forms his double-bladed glaive in his hands as he torques his body around to put power into this last slice, aiming for just below the head to sever it completely from the rest of the plant, giving Kaeya the opportunity he needs to take out the root ball.]

Kaeya lets his magic snap out like a striking snake. The plant is wet with water magic. As the cold bites down, ice races over the plant and holds it. He reaches into his robe and pulls out the book.
The book glows faintly with a dark purple light. He leaps and shoves the book against the root ball. The plant is sucked into the book with an ominous whisper. The book closes and flutters away, heading back to its subsection of Political Science.
Kaeya hums to himself and looks around for Childe. When he sees him, he gives an all clear signal.]

Childe gets the high sign, and with an amused laugh, he trots over to Kaeya with the biggest grin on his face.]
Well done! We make a pretty good team. I must say, though that plant wasn't much of an adversary, I still rather enjoyed myself.

He lets his weapons back apart and hums. His robe glows brighter, giving them some better light. His Vision is belted around his waist in plain sight. His hair braided to make it less of a hassle for now.]
This is exciting despite the circumstances. I’ve heard some interesting things from the others too.
no subject
Hah! Being told that we're in a fight to save our world alone is interesting enough. I'm not sure if I've ever been in a position where the stakes are so high.
[The Vision on his own belt shines with an enthusiastic blue, matching the wearer's demeanor. Childe doesn't seem like he's worried whatsoever, not on the outside at least.]
We can discuss that in a moment, though. You can call me Tartaglia. Good to know I'm not alone, here.

Good to know they chose capable people for this venture. Puts a little more faith in this being possible true.
[There is only one Kaeya of Mond and he knows it. He might as well have just laid cards out on a poker table. Intentionally so. His smile is casual and friendly, the proverbial poker face as one tosses chips on the table.]
We’re fighting the same thing. What a wonderous turn of events.
