 ⏵ arrival ⏴ Arrival is absolutely not normal this month. Instead of a hospital bed, you wake in a tunnel with a large group of other people. These are the residents. A woman’s voice in an earpiece hurriedly clues you in with an apology. I apologize; I had not planned to introduce you this way, but we are low on time. Please proceed down the hallway. For everyone else, coming in is much the same. The instruction goes out to head to designated areas immediately, where companion bots will escort the residents of Etraya down into the depths, the area beneath where much the same is explained.  ⏵ disrobing ⏴ The tunnel eventually opens directly into the foreroom of an expansive library, painted in marvelous hues and patterns with skylights far above. There are wizards milling about, bearded and holding tomes, quietly chatting amongst themselves. The reception area of the library has tall ceilings with equally tall doors Before you get too caught up in the scenery, a voice directs you forward. A gentleman, hunched and bespeckled craws out. "Make a line! Make a line, everyone! You cannot enter the library dressed as you are... Come forward and give me your name." The receptionist asks your given name and then hands over a box from underneath his counter. You can give him any name you want, he doesn’t seem to mind. It is tied with a tagged ribbon- labeling it accordingly. “The _____ robe of _______.”
As you read what the contents of the box may be, they form inside- Looking and behaving as your character expects them to. After all, magic is all in the wielder’s mind. Don your robes and enter the library.  ⏵ unfamiliar familiars ⏴ For those without a familiar (like one hatched from an egg not too long ago) you may borrow one from the library counter. They all have strengths and weaknesses, but they will all assist in the very important mission. As you roam the library, they will make little indications that you are closer or further from finding a piece of the pearl.
 ⏵ the task at hand ⏴ With robes donned and creature in hand, you must now complete your mission. Find the pieces of the shattered pearl. As you enter the library, you may notice that it’s all very dim. There’s oil lamps around the place that may be moved with you to assist in your journey if your robes do not already emit light. Break off and search the library. There is a directory at the front to point guests to all the different sections.
Each section looks enough like the last, though the books within have immense power. Pick up the wrong book, and you might conjure a dragon or a historical figure! You must persist and avoid making too much noise or breaking too many things. Or else the Librarian, a tall mass of knotted fabric will confiscate your robe and usher you back outside. Your name will be struck from the list, and you must pick a new one to re-enter the library to continue the search. You can try to fight back against him- he may be set alight with the lamp. But should you be starting fires in here? Any thread with 15 comments between you and another may be submitted to find a piece of the pearl. There are 20 pieces altogether, and we will determine if the mission was successful by March 28th. A post will go live on the OOC comm for this! This mission occurs out of time, similar to how the spaceship had. Meaning, those currently in game can experience these events any time between now, and March 14th. Especially the hole in the bathroom that led to monster filled meat hallways. That's the kind of thing that's really going to stick in the mind, and Henry's request is so puzzling the boy almost actually looks directly at him. Not quite, but awfully close.]
... Why? None of it was bad.

Honesty is best. Even if it's awkward. Do you want to keep going, or do you think they'll be satisfied with this?

Emotions stutter themselves across his expression - a mixture of confusion, guilt, and anxiety. They're ones spoken more with his eyes and eyebrows rather than his entire face. Each flicker of feeling crosses through his stare - eyebrows flexing and furrowing briefly - before the show of life on his face returns to a blank stare. ]
I'd be okay... if you took the broken piece.

[Information is information, always useful in its time, sooner or later. Even interpersonal conflicts.
Perhaps especially interpersonal conflicts. There were lessons he'd lacked growing up, that he .. might be able to catch up on now. Maybe. Like this. There had to be a reason the man was digging his heels in, but what it was seemed to elude.]

[ That is the best way that Henry can put into words why he's reluctant to accept a potential reward. It just doesn't seem right. He feels like he already has his prize, anyway; he's out of his room and talking to people.
Furthermore, those people seem like they're going to be okay; they're not being hunted; they're not going to die in front of him. What more could he ask for, really? ]

[The question is very cautious, and something in the sound of it both suggests he really has no idea why that's important and suspects not only is it not really okay to ask, but that there might be retaliation over it.]

[ He blinks, confused. For a second, he thinks that Sephiroth might mean he shouldn't be concerned with age which sounds like something someone younger than him would think. However, it seems like he really doesn't know. ]

[It's barely an answer at all and 'because I say so' has never really worked well on him. Henry isn't one of the lab's scientists, or worse, the Professor, to keep him unquestioning and silent. This is different.
And it had to have some kind of reason if Henry's so adamant about it.]
Who decided it's what's 'right'? Why is not being wasteful the wrong option?

[ Henry supposes that makes some sense. If something has been unfair for a long time, someone saying that "this is fair" wouldn't be right. Does he have a better reason other than Sephiroth is younger? His eyebrows come together as he tries to think.
He blinks and looks to the side as he focuses on the other questions. Holding his chin, he thinks seriously on what is being asked. Is it right to say because I'm an adult that I should prioritize his comfort over mine? ]
It's... you only get a chance to be protected for so long... so... it makes sense...

I have never once in my life received protection from anyone, it would be silly to start now, don't you think? Besides, I don't think a broken pearl piece can protect me.
[There's.. something else he should put here, and he scrambles for a moment to try to think of what it might be. Some reassurance..]
The thought is kind, but don't think of me as some kid. I'm a career SOLDIER.

[ He's a little surprised that the teen admits to being a child soldier so easily. Is that really okay? He doesn't think so. His expression falls even more in concern. Through the usual lack of emotions, concern bleeds its way through to the surface, like a gaping wound.
This feels important - this feels like something he's witnessed. ]
-- listen. [ Henry steps closer. ] Just because you haven't yet doesn't mean you shouldn't now. [ He's surprised he could articulate his thoughts so well, but maybe that's why he's so worried. ] It might not, but -- but I can.

Sephiroth's as much a monster as the things hiding behind the walls of Henry's apartment. And for a moment he's terribly tempted to actually say so.]

[And what good would it do, besides to frighten someone else?]
... We don't have that luxury, if it's true that our planets are in danger. I can't hide behind someone else, and you can't be worrying about more than one planet.

You have that luxury. [ Another step forward and bending to be at eye level. ] Things are complicated and serious... but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be protected. [ His gaze drops. ] It's too much for one person to carry... and even more so... someone younger than me.
It's too much for anyone... but you're still someone that should be looked after.
