![]() ⏵ arrival ⏴ Arrival is absolutely not normal this month. Instead of a hospital bed, you wake in a tunnel with a large group of other people. These are the residents. A woman’s voice in an earpiece hurriedly clues you in with an apology. I apologize; I had not planned to introduce you this way, but we are low on time. Please proceed down the hallway. For everyone else, coming in is much the same. The instruction goes out to head to designated areas immediately, where companion bots will escort the residents of Etraya down into the depths, the area beneath where much the same is explained. ![]() ⏵ disrobing ⏴ The tunnel eventually opens directly into the foreroom of an expansive library, painted in marvelous hues and patterns with skylights far above. There are wizards milling about, bearded and holding tomes, quietly chatting amongst themselves. The reception area of the library has tall ceilings with equally tall doors Before you get too caught up in the scenery, a voice directs you forward. A gentleman, hunched and bespeckled craws out. "Make a line! Make a line, everyone! You cannot enter the library dressed as you are... Come forward and give me your name." The receptionist asks your given name and then hands over a box from underneath his counter. You can give him any name you want, he doesn’t seem to mind. It is tied with a tagged ribbon- labeling it accordingly. “The _____ robe of _______.”
As you read what the contents of the box may be, they form inside- Looking and behaving as your character expects them to. After all, magic is all in the wielder’s mind. Don your robes and enter the library. ![]() ⏵ unfamiliar familiars ⏴ For those without a familiar (like one hatched from an egg not too long ago) you may borrow one from the library counter. They all have strengths and weaknesses, but they will all assist in the very important mission. As you roam the library, they will make little indications that you are closer or further from finding a piece of the pearl.
![]() ⏵ the task at hand ⏴ With robes donned and creature in hand, you must now complete your mission. Find the pieces of the shattered pearl. As you enter the library, you may notice that it’s all very dim. There’s oil lamps around the place that may be moved with you to assist in your journey if your robes do not already emit light. Break off and search the library. There is a directory at the front to point guests to all the different sections.
Each section looks enough like the last, though the books within have immense power. Pick up the wrong book, and you might conjure a dragon or a historical figure! You must persist and avoid making too much noise or breaking too many things. Or else the Librarian, a tall mass of knotted fabric will confiscate your robe and usher you back outside. Your name will be struck from the list, and you must pick a new one to re-enter the library to continue the search. You can try to fight back against him- he may be set alight with the lamp. But should you be starting fires in here? Any thread with 15 comments between you and another may be submitted to find a piece of the pearl. There are 20 pieces altogether, and we will determine if the mission was successful by March 28th. A post will go live on the OOC comm for this! This mission occurs out of time, similar to how the spaceship had. Meaning, those currently in game can experience these events any time between now, and March 14th. Please direct all questions to our mod queries comment! |

"That would be nice. Maybe I'll settle for a hot bath." That should help his aching legs a little.
A nod follows. "Yeah, I'm not sure why we have to wear these, but it is a bit fun seeing everyone in them." And the different things that happen, so long as no one ends up hurt because of it.

“There really is nothing better than a nice bath.” It’s apparently Loki’s turn to feel a little hot around the collar as he suddenly cannot help but picture such things. And how much he wouldn’t mind joining Hob in such an activity. There’s a bit of a pause where Loki pulls at his collar a bit awkwardly and clears his throat.
He smiles again when the conversation continues on. “I am not questioning it myself. It is rare I truly enjoy what they lay upon us here. I am a little worried that I am not quite following the mission directive, but I will never complain about such nice clothing and a trip to the library.”

"It's hard to say how we're supposed to go about it. I mean, this place is huge. We could wander around all day and never find what they're looking for." But Hob won't mind so much if he's got such splendid company.
He only hesitates a moment before he asks, "Might I join you? We could search together for awhile."

“I admit I am a little frustrated with their lack of direction. Besides, how am I not supposed to get distracted by all these books? I haven’t been in a library like this since Asgard.” He looks around, feeling a bit nostalgic. He really didn’t appreciate it when he had it, that is becoming abundantly clear as he takes in the sheer size of this place.
Loki brightens at that idea. “Of course you may join me. I cannot think of a better way to start this mission.” Honestly, he can’t imagine ever saying no to keeping Hob’s company.

When Loki agrees to his company, Hob smiles yet again. "Brilliant." He gestures for Loki to take the lead and follows by the man's side. "Um, I had a very nice time at dinner." He probably said that a lot during the dinner itself, but he can't help but mention it again.

Loki heads into the main corridor of the library, looking up for signage to figure out which way to go for each wing while trying to decide where he would like to go first. He’s distracted from these thoughts when Hob speaks though. He turns and looks at him, smiling widely.
”I also had a very nice time. I do not suppose you might want to do it again? I may have found a recipe for beef stew.” He says this like he needs to convince Hob to go on a second date with him.

"I'm sure I would." Hob is very fond of libraries. It appears they have another thing in common.
When Loki smiles at him and suggests another dinner, Hob nods, almost too eagerly. "Yes, I would love to. I had also thought, perhaps you'd like to come over to my place some evening and watch a movie or something?" It's been a little too cold to run around the city in the evening.

The library of Asgard would be much easier to manage. Especially if he ever has the ability to step away from his duties and steal a Tempad. “Maybe one day we should be so lucky then.”
Loki tilts his head in surprise, his smile widening. “I would love that. I could maybe bring the stew over to yours? I have never really seen a movie before, but have heard they can be quite entertaining.” He does, of course, know what they are, but his only experience with such things is the one Mobius showed him of his life on the Sacred Timeline. The technology is quite fascinating, and he is curious to see something fun and not, well, terrifying and depressing.

"So you don't know what kind of movies you might like?" Or perhaps Loki can guess? Hob wants to pick something Loki will enjoy, especially if it's his first ever movie. Everyone has different tastes. What sort would Loki enjoy?
no subject
There are other themes he tends to enjoy as well, but he figures one thing at a time. But really, he’s confident that whatever Hob chooses, he will enjoy it. And even if not, he can’t imagine not enjoying another evening with him no matter what they do.
no subject
What kind of impression will it leave? And it's got to be a good one because the experience will be with him forever. God, it feels like a lot of pressure all of a sudden! Is he sweating? Maybe a little.
no subject
He stops short of saying just being with Hob is enjoyable. It’s true, but Loki can’t help but worry that it’s a little too much too fast. If he’s not careful, he’ll accidentally end up telling him he’s in love with him by date three.
