![]() ⏵ arrival ⏴ Arrival is absolutely not normal this month. Instead of a hospital bed, you wake in a tunnel with a large group of other people. These are the residents. A woman’s voice in an earpiece hurriedly clues you in with an apology. I apologize; I had not planned to introduce you this way, but we are low on time. Please proceed down the hallway. For everyone else, coming in is much the same. The instruction goes out to head to designated areas immediately, where companion bots will escort the residents of Etraya down into the depths, the area beneath where much the same is explained. ![]() ⏵ disrobing ⏴ The tunnel eventually opens directly into the foreroom of an expansive library, painted in marvelous hues and patterns with skylights far above. There are wizards milling about, bearded and holding tomes, quietly chatting amongst themselves. The reception area of the library has tall ceilings with equally tall doors Before you get too caught up in the scenery, a voice directs you forward. A gentleman, hunched and bespeckled craws out. "Make a line! Make a line, everyone! You cannot enter the library dressed as you are... Come forward and give me your name." The receptionist asks your given name and then hands over a box from underneath his counter. You can give him any name you want, he doesn’t seem to mind. It is tied with a tagged ribbon- labeling it accordingly. “The _____ robe of _______.”
As you read what the contents of the box may be, they form inside- Looking and behaving as your character expects them to. After all, magic is all in the wielder’s mind. Don your robes and enter the library. ![]() ⏵ unfamiliar familiars ⏴ For those without a familiar (like one hatched from an egg not too long ago) you may borrow one from the library counter. They all have strengths and weaknesses, but they will all assist in the very important mission. As you roam the library, they will make little indications that you are closer or further from finding a piece of the pearl.
![]() ⏵ the task at hand ⏴ With robes donned and creature in hand, you must now complete your mission. Find the pieces of the shattered pearl. As you enter the library, you may notice that it’s all very dim. There’s oil lamps around the place that may be moved with you to assist in your journey if your robes do not already emit light. Break off and search the library. There is a directory at the front to point guests to all the different sections.
Each section looks enough like the last, though the books within have immense power. Pick up the wrong book, and you might conjure a dragon or a historical figure! You must persist and avoid making too much noise or breaking too many things. Or else the Librarian, a tall mass of knotted fabric will confiscate your robe and usher you back outside. Your name will be struck from the list, and you must pick a new one to re-enter the library to continue the search. You can try to fight back against him- he may be set alight with the lamp. But should you be starting fires in here? Any thread with 15 comments between you and another may be submitted to find a piece of the pearl. There are 20 pieces altogether, and we will determine if the mission was successful by March 28th. A post will go live on the OOC comm for this! This mission occurs out of time, similar to how the spaceship had. Meaning, those currently in game can experience these events any time between now, and March 14th. Please direct all questions to our mod queries comment! |

[But mostly accurate. He pulls knees to bare chest, looping his arms around his legs for a more comfortable position, still watching the ground. Anything but Cloud, though it's certain the ex-SOLDIER is being tracked even if the sword is put aside.
It's automatic. As little as a threat he believes Cloud is, he's still unarmed in comparison, and keeping tabs on a potential source of trouble is .. a good idea, isn't it?
Except he'd caused the trouble. It didn't matter the provocation, it didn't matter if the information he'd been given left him off-balance and deeply upset, he knew better and acted anyway. That he'd expecting it to be a weak blow didn't excuse anything either. That the person he'd hit is more concerned than angry is ... not a great sign to his estimation. Higher standards are expected, and he'd failed.
His mother, and his status as one of Shinra's trained, twisted lab experiments, were not Cloud's problem. He was not, and never had been, a child any more than .. than a dragon hatchling would be. Maybe turning into a beast had simply been putting on the outside what had always been on the inside.]
You're right. [It's a lie.] I'm sorry, this is none of your concern; you told me what is .. presumably the truth and I repaid you badly.

Trust me, you reacted a hell of a lot better just now than adult you did when he found out. But it is my concern. You're my concern, whether either of us likes it or not. You'll understand why when I tell you more, but right now you need a break and some clothes. Let's head back to town and get you set up with an apartment and everything.

Somewhere secluded would be nice, so he could sort things out on his own without worry of being eavesdropped upon or anything that might break should he choose to find a target to lash out at. This tunnel is neither isolated nor likely a good thing to use as a target dummy. But he can feign some manner of calm, while the rest of him frantically made connections he'd ignored throughout his entire lifetime.
Enough where it's visible when it's all carefully put away for later. Just sealed up and put aside so it can't immediately trouble him and let the facade of steady control settle back in.]
An.. apartment.
[Of all the things he didn't need--
Well. He could use shoes, he supposed. And a shirt. Running around with just pants on was not considered acceptable in most places.]
I have no currency on me and I'd prefer not to be in debt to you, if it's all the same.

[He gets to his feet and...considers offering a hand to help the kid up, but he suspects it wouldn't be welcome. So instead he just gestures with his head toward the other end of the tunnel.]
Come on. Better to leave now than wait until there's a crowd, right?
no subject
One way to find out, he supposed. If it didn't wind up with him owing osmeone, then.. that could be acceptable. Maybe. An apartment at least would have a door he could close and lock, and he could be alone. And there would be no scents of tempting breakfast waiting in the morning.
The thought is immediately shaken off, and as there's really only one way to GO in this tunnel, at least at this part, Sephiroth turns and heads for the end that ISN'T the library. Pay no heed to the long mostly-healed scars down his back; they didn't hurt anymore, so he disregarded them himself.]
What other locations are there?
no subject
Cloud walks alongside the kid at a casual pace, but not before getting a glimpse of his back. He winces at the flash of memory it brings back to mind just for a second, but he manages to shake it off without much trouble. For now.]
All kinds of stuff. It's a city, though kind of a hodge-podge one. There was nothing when we first got here except a few buildings the bots put in. But whenever new people show up, they bring places from home with them. And people can ask Aurora to have the bots build something for them.
So far, we got a couple cafes, a couple bars, convenience store, the apartment building, the hospital, some shops, the new library - not this one - places to eat, a shooting range...bunch of mansions and some skyscrapers...we had a chicken factory show up recently.
[He's just not going to mention Shinra HQ. It would only suck for Sephiroth, and it's moot because Rufus is keeping the place locked up anyway.]
Other stuff, too. It's all spread out over a bunch of islands.

[Entire cities tended to have populations in the hundreds of thousands. He .. didn't really like crowds, hopefully by the time they surfaced most people would be asleep or elsewhere and he didn't have to worry about a lot of foot traffic.
If he's even now aware he'd caused Cloud's seizing pain earlier, or that he could probably do it again if he wasn't paying attention, there's no sign of it. An accident - and not a pleasant one for the blond. At least it doesn't seem likely to repeat right away.
Maybe it required stress.]
Etraya is the city, I take it? Or the islands it's upon? ...And who is Aurora?
[Someone who owns the bots, apparently. Whatever the bots were, besides the obvious. Though if there's only a couple of cafes and bars, maybe the city is a small one, more on Junon's scale than Midgar's. Weren't there bars on every street corner normally?
