![]() ⏵ arrival⏴ Arrival goes as anticipated. Characters awaken in the pristine, new hospital, greeted by Aurora and potentially getting a rundown of what's happening depending on their approach to being dropped somewhere new. The door to their room opens, and new arrivals are left free to explore their new environment. Or what exists of it anyway. Exiting the hospital will show that there isn't much of anything just yet. Generally, Echo can build new facilities before new arrivals awaken, but it appears that this time… well, it didn't happen. The apartment complex exists, standing just beside the hospital, and there are a few facilities that are half constructed, companion bots carrying around rebar and other necessary bits and pieces, but they're not quite ready. Oops. But maybe, just maybe, one of those half-built facilities is familiar - a childhood home, a favorite supermarket, the run-down garage they worked at as a youth, a grounded spaceship in the middle of one of the massive bridges connecting land over rivers. The companion bots will offer quiet apologies if approached; they were expecting new arrivals to touch down, but not quite this early. They'll be ready soon! A few more days at most, they promise. In the meantime, do not stray too far from the hospital. While most of Etraya looks habitable, they have not finished verifying that it's safe for its new inhabitants. The apartment building and hospital are safe, and the land directly around them is fine, but beyond that? Stay away. But hey, the hospital's cafeteria is fully stocked with cuisine from across the multiverse! Please feel free to settle in, choose an apartment, and get to know your new friends. ![]() ⏵ water you doing?⏴ Decide not to listen? Well, the companion bots had offered their warnings. Etraya is a new establishment, one that received newcomers before it was ready. And as such, the land has not quite been prepared for their arrival. Wandering off the land the apartment building and hospital are settled on comes with very, very poor results. Take a step down into the river below, and you'll find yourself uncomfortably hot. Or cold. Or hot and cold, because whatever that 'water' is, it wasn't meant to be played in. The only way to resolve the temperature regulation issue, as Aurora informs, is finding a buddy to cuddle up with. Those who are lucky may have a nearby friend they're familiar with and don't mind leaning a shoulder against. Those that don't? Well. . . have fun having a very uncomfortable conversation with a stranger, asking them if it's alright if you lean into them or hold their hand for a bit. Any physical contact will do, as long as it's directly skin-to-skin. Except that's not where the contact stops. Characters will find that, for the next several hours, they'll feel everything that their companion feels. Frustration, anger, amusement, homesickness that comes from being so far away from their families and friends - all those feelings? They're not your feelings, they're our feelings now. No explanation is given for how the empathy bond and the temperature regulation are related, but it may have to do with how since they had decided not to listen, it was time to test how well they could cohabitate with their new friends. ![]() ⏵ bonding bingo ⏴ Maybe it feels a little too much like Obi-Wan had when receiving Leia's message, but all new arrivals are their universe's only hope. Except they're not the only ones arriving, and not the only ones who are trying to keep their worlds safe. Instead, they've arrived with several others who carry the same weight on their shoulders. And they aren't meant to go through this alone. The people they've arrived with are both their new companions and their competition. Both comrades to fight beside and enemies to battle against, depending on what the specific mission of the month is. But currently? They're here to bond. It's important to get to know those who they'll be spending the next unspecified but lengthy amount of time with, isn't it? To that extent, Aurora's hologram waits just inside the hospital's front doors, offering bonding bingo cards to those willing to participate. It's not necessary, but she does specify that this is one way to get ahead: cooperation is important, especially given what they're going to face together. Bingo cards are three long and three across, and offer a multitude of activities you can do to check each box off. Some examples include:
![]() ⏵ matchmaker ⏴ When the earpiece is put on, a nice green HUD(head-up display) lights up in front of new arrivals. It asks them for their name, which is fairly standard for these. Except it seems it wants them to put together a profile to help pair them off with other new arrivals. For some, this information may autofill with what Aurora was able to discern about them from watching them in their home worlds. But some lucky individuals may catch their profiles before they're posted live, and have the opportunity to edit out information included in fields, even if they're not able to clear it out entirely. Welcome to Aurora's idea of matchmaking. Have fun getting paired off with a buddy or four, with your profiles exchanged between one another. Maybe they're the perfect match. Maybe this is a nightmare in the making. Welcome to our first TDM! We're excited to have you here. For more information on character arrivals, click here. ❥bonding bingo.

( bonding bingo. ) / i wanted to do arrival but the pitch for bingo dkfklsnf yes-
That's definitely a way to get his attention as he was busy staring at his own little card, looking ruefully at the 'Dance With Someone New' section. She's got him distracted from his internal dancing rant so... yay?
The ten feet tall hybrid looks down, processing the question/introduction while his optics slooowly dim in and out as his equivalent of a slow blink.
Finally - finally! - he says, with clear hesitation and concern, "Is it, like, a real stab or an A for Effort stab? Because I'm kind of okay with the effort stab since I don't think you can penetrate my armor and get to my protoform." He thinks. He knows better than to underestimate the determination of stabbity people at this point, thanks.
stabbing is always a fun option!
"You know, it doesn't specify," she says, looking back at her card and furrowing her brows. "It just says 'get stabbed.' Which, like, at first I thought meant that I needed to get stabbed but now I'm wondering if it's just anyone. Like, will it cross off both our cards if we have it no matter who gets the jab? Or do we need to do some hillbilly hijinks with knives?" Questions, questions.
"I could try an A for Effort stab though and see where it gets us." There's gotta' be some knives in the cafeteria.

So. Yeah. Daylight compacts himself up as he hears her out, helmm tilting in great curiosity as she goes through the ethics and requirements of what it means to get stabbed because, like, she's got a point! If one gets stabbed by another, does that count for both? He kind of hope it does. Less work for the medic crew - do they even have that? - here.
"You could try to stab my servo plating and see where that goes," Daylight suggests in the end, his words... careful, because he could already hear Emergency Aid yelling at him in the back of processors for offering this up. "If we're lucky, maybe a mark or something counts and, um, no one gets hurt too badly. I don't know how you'd bond with someone otherwise."
So yeah, times two: Daylight holds up his servo, making sure its palm facing down so the arm guard is protecting the softer, squishier bits of Day. "Oh! I'm Daylight by the way. You can just call me 'Day', though, since I know that's a mouthful."
water you doing?
This place is different. Is it peace he feels? He isn't sure. There is the rush of the river in front of him, the thick woods around him. Oddly, there is freedom: something he's still learning how to live with. He might have taken the mischievous leap to touch the water if he didn't hear the huffing; the sound of a rock clattering down the shore, landing next to him. He picks up the stone, feeling the sharp edges against his palm.
"You are swearing a lot," he says to the person who presumably kicked the rock.

"Sorry, I'm just. This is a lot, y'know? Multiverse hanging in the balance or whatever." No pressure, right? "And I just wanted to maybe touch some grass and relax but the water feels like icy hot only, like, in my skin." She gives her hand a rub as it again goes to boiling heat only to feel frigid a moment later. Worse: the sensation seems to be spreading up her arm.
"Don't touch the water, by the way, if you didn't realize. It kind of sucks."
no subject
It's an odd thought.
"Yes, it is a lot." P nods as he sets the rock down by the shore, avoiding touching the water. "Although it's too much for me to really understand all at once."
There is mud on the knees of his trousers as P rises, but he supposes there won't be anyone here to help him with these sorts of things now. Someone back home would have told him to change, but the dirt doesn't bother him.
"That is strange of the water." P doesn't know much about rivers, but this doesn't seem right. "Do you need to return to town? You seem uncomfortable. Perhaps the machines there could help you."
water u doing? two ppl who hate sharing their real emotions, this'll go great XD
So he's trekked out into the wilderness. He doesn't love being unarmed, but at least he has his bracers and the materia that were already mounted. It's...something.
After an hour or two, he comes across the river and crouches by the water's edge to scoop up a few cupped handfuls to drink. It tastes weird, but that's nothing new to someone who's spent time in Midgar's slums.
...except the water there didn't make him suddenly feel like he'd walked into a furnace. Beads of sweat start dripping down his face in seconds. "What the hell?" he mutters. Ugh, he guesses he'll have to trudge all the way back to do something about this. Maybe distance from the river will help...?
But then he spots a woman nearby who's shivering like she's freezing cold. For a moment he considers just ignoring her and hurrying back to what passes for a city, but...he sighs, resigned to the fact that his feet have already started carrying him toward her.
He sets a hand on his hip and wipes some sweat from his brow with the back of his other glove. He already looks completely done with this situation when he says, "Let me guess. The river?"
SO GREAT
"You got it in one," she agrees, huffing audibly. She looks up to the man and gives a small 'huh.' It's not a bad thing, honestly, just- He's really pretty. Dang. Anyway.
"Did you get fucked over by the mystery liquid, too?" She notices him sweating a little and indicates as such with a nod.
no subject
"...what?" Does she recognize him or something? Maybe it's the SOLDIER uniform she recognizes. Well, bring it on. The faster ShinRa sends people after him, the faster he can get answers.
"Ain't a mystery, it's definitely water. Just doctored, or maybe enchanted. But yeah. Had a few sips and now I'm boiling. And you're freezing." Not that he has a jacket or anything to help with that. "Guess we'll just have to hoof it back to town."
