![]() ⏵ arrival⏴ Arrival goes as anticipated. Characters awaken in the pristine, new hospital, greeted by Aurora and potentially getting a rundown of what's happening depending on their approach to being dropped somewhere new. The door to their room opens, and new arrivals are left free to explore their new environment. Or what exists of it anyway. Exiting the hospital will show that there isn't much of anything just yet. Generally, Echo can build new facilities before new arrivals awaken, but it appears that this time… well, it didn't happen. The apartment complex exists, standing just beside the hospital, and there are a few facilities that are half constructed, companion bots carrying around rebar and other necessary bits and pieces, but they're not quite ready. Oops. But maybe, just maybe, one of those half-built facilities is familiar - a childhood home, a favorite supermarket, the run-down garage they worked at as a youth, a grounded spaceship in the middle of one of the massive bridges connecting land over rivers. The companion bots will offer quiet apologies if approached; they were expecting new arrivals to touch down, but not quite this early. They'll be ready soon! A few more days at most, they promise. In the meantime, do not stray too far from the hospital. While most of Etraya looks habitable, they have not finished verifying that it's safe for its new inhabitants. The apartment building and hospital are safe, and the land directly around them is fine, but beyond that? Stay away. But hey, the hospital's cafeteria is fully stocked with cuisine from across the multiverse! Please feel free to settle in, choose an apartment, and get to know your new friends. ![]() ⏵ water you doing?⏴ Decide not to listen? Well, the companion bots had offered their warnings. Etraya is a new establishment, one that received newcomers before it was ready. And as such, the land has not quite been prepared for their arrival. Wandering off the land the apartment building and hospital are settled on comes with very, very poor results. Take a step down into the river below, and you'll find yourself uncomfortably hot. Or cold. Or hot and cold, because whatever that 'water' is, it wasn't meant to be played in. The only way to resolve the temperature regulation issue, as Aurora informs, is finding a buddy to cuddle up with. Those who are lucky may have a nearby friend they're familiar with and don't mind leaning a shoulder against. Those that don't? Well. . . have fun having a very uncomfortable conversation with a stranger, asking them if it's alright if you lean into them or hold their hand for a bit. Any physical contact will do, as long as it's directly skin-to-skin. Except that's not where the contact stops. Characters will find that, for the next several hours, they'll feel everything that their companion feels. Frustration, anger, amusement, homesickness that comes from being so far away from their families and friends - all those feelings? They're not your feelings, they're our feelings now. No explanation is given for how the empathy bond and the temperature regulation are related, but it may have to do with how since they had decided not to listen, it was time to test how well they could cohabitate with their new friends. ![]() ⏵ bonding bingo ⏴ Maybe it feels a little too much like Obi-Wan had when receiving Leia's message, but all new arrivals are their universe's only hope. Except they're not the only ones arriving, and not the only ones who are trying to keep their worlds safe. Instead, they've arrived with several others who carry the same weight on their shoulders. And they aren't meant to go through this alone. The people they've arrived with are both their new companions and their competition. Both comrades to fight beside and enemies to battle against, depending on what the specific mission of the month is. But currently? They're here to bond. It's important to get to know those who they'll be spending the next unspecified but lengthy amount of time with, isn't it? To that extent, Aurora's hologram waits just inside the hospital's front doors, offering bonding bingo cards to those willing to participate. It's not necessary, but she does specify that this is one way to get ahead: cooperation is important, especially given what they're going to face together. Bingo cards are three long and three across, and offer a multitude of activities you can do to check each box off. Some examples include:
![]() ⏵ matchmaker ⏴ When the earpiece is put on, a nice green HUD(head-up display) lights up in front of new arrivals. It asks them for their name, which is fairly standard for these. Except it seems it wants them to put together a profile to help pair them off with other new arrivals. For some, this information may autofill with what Aurora was able to discern about them from watching them in their home worlds. But some lucky individuals may catch their profiles before they're posted live, and have the opportunity to edit out information included in fields, even if they're not able to clear it out entirely. Welcome to Aurora's idea of matchmaking. Have fun getting paired off with a buddy or four, with your profiles exchanged between one another. Maybe they're the perfect match. Maybe this is a nightmare in the making. Welcome to our first TDM! We're excited to have you here. For more information on character arrivals, click here. "You're right, some places hurt more than others but I'd still rather NOT get stabbed. Stab wounds take a while to really heal."
How does she know that? Experience.
"Maybe you could find a loophole by getting something pierced? That's technically stabbing a needle through something."
no subject
"What're doin' gettin' stabbed by dull knives? That's the worst." It almost sounds like he has experience too. But thankfully they both seem to move on from that particular discussion. Oh how sharp your knife is when you get shanked.
"Piercing is way different. You got any? What I wouldn't give to have a nipple or two to pierce." A big sigh, what he wouldn't have also given to be in this place with his real body again. It couldn't be that easy, get trapped in hell, get out of hell, and then somehow still be trapped in some sorta hell.
He spins the bingo marker around in a hand before slapping it down in the cell. He's gonna count it, apparently they can relate to the stabbing department.
no subject
Dawn lifts a brow at both the question and comment about nipples. "No, no piercings. And do you really not have any nipples?"
no subject
"I'm technically not a mammal. So- no nipples." Which probably seems a weird thing to say considering he seems to be covered in a thick layer of fur. "And it just wasn't a thing back when I had them to pierce. Though I totally would have."
He sort of dances his fingers across the board. "So are these supposed to be things we do together, or relate to with one another?" Cause how the fuck is stabbing a bonding thing when supposedly they're supposed to be world saving. Stabbing doesn't seem very world saving friendly… although, seemed to work where he was last. Maybe the rules are different here. He'd wandered off when the robot was explaining things when he first got up, still not sure he wanted to get wrapped up with that sort of thing if he had the option. It was very unclear if he did or not
no subject
"Do you mind if I ask, what are the then? And who?"
Her tone is friendly and she offers a hand. "I'm Dawn."
"And I'm not really sure, no one really told me the rules. I was just handed a bingo card, I suspect it's a way to get us to mingle."
no subject
"Demon. More specifically? Arachnid." He stretches one of the multitude of arms he seems to have towards her to shake her hand. "Angel."
At the mention of not telling her the rules he has to laugh. This place is strange to say the least. But it beats where he came from. "Right!?" He laughs and rolls both his shoulder sets. "They want us to save the world and they ain't even got their shit together!"
no subject
Both eyebrows go up and there's a slight hesitation before she shakes one of his nearest hands.
"Interesting name seeing you're a demon."
She then nods, "Apparently they weren't expecting us so soon but that doesn't exactly fill me with a lot of confidence if we are supposed to save our world's."
no subject
He nods in agreement, though he's been treating that information with a grain of salt regardless. "Right? Fucking wild. But I guess we're here regardless." There is a slight annoyance to his tone. "I don't know how I keep getting wrapped up in other peoples world saving bullshit." A cruise over the card in front of him until he finds one a little less, violent, that maybe they could bond over; pets.
"Alright. You have any pets, back where you're from?"
no subject
"No, no pets. My lifestyle isn't very well suited for pets, what about you?"
no subject
"Oh yeah? Kinda lifestyle is that?" Another pause, this one a little more lingering. "Yeah. Fat Nuggets."
no subject
After all not all humans are nice either so maybe demons and angels are just like them.
"Fat Nuggets? That's a pretty cute name, what kind of pet are they?"
no subject
"He's like a little demon, pig, thing." He found him rooting around in the trash outside the studio one day, and he's pretty much the cutest. Truthfully Angel misses him a lot already. But he at least knows everyone at the Hotel will take good care of him for however long he's here.
Which is hopefully not long.
no subject
no subject
"Pigs are wild. But did you know they're actually pretty clean?" Fun fact!
no subject
no subject
"Alright what about this;
Share your favourite hobby." Working his way down the offerings looking for a less stab-y option.
no subject
"Oooh okay, mine is dancing. What about you?"
no subject
"Dancin' ey? Kind'a dancin'?"
As for his hobbies, well... "I like, workin' out." That might be an easier thing to pick right this moment then blurt out the reality.
no subject
"I was a professional for about seven years." She then raises an eyebrow, "Working out in general or is there a specific type you enjoy? Cross fit? Weights?"
no subject
Wherever here is, and damn it Dawn. "Working out in general. Anything that gets you a real deep stretch and makes you nice and relaxed." He stretches like a cat just thinking about it.
no subject
Her smile grows when she sees him stretch like a large cat. "Big into relaxing hrm?"
no subject
"Somethin' like that." He sing-songs out.
no subject
Might as well just say it out loud, it's no less bizarre than the situation they are in right now.
"What was your previous job?"
no subject
He hasn't met too many people here yet but they seem to have a little theme going and, well, he doesn’t fit it. He feels a little sheepish now. Not ashamed, cause he is not, but more and more he has no idea why he was here.
"Uh… well. I am a porn star." Is it was? Or still am. He wonders how time passes here verses elsewhere. He tries not to think about it. "Pretty good one too. Hottest in Hell~"
no subject
When he shares with her his pervious line of work she can't help but chuckle, "With a title like that you'd have to be. That sounds like a fun if not physically demanding job. No wonder you like stretching so much."
