TDM 007
content warnings for this TDM include: violence, potential death, body horror, physical transformation, loss of senses, loss of autonomy ![]() ⏵ arrival⏴ Arrival does not happen as Aurora usually plans for it. New characters are introduced to the AI, then informed of a mission that they are required to participate in before they can return to their home base of Etraya. A world called Aphaia is falling apart, and while there is nothing they can do to resolve this broken world, they can participate in the Gamerunner's Stratagem. Their mission is simple: step through the glowing purple portal that Aurora creates once they've had time to listen to her, and survive until a similar portal reopens in front of them, allowing them to return to Etraya. The Gamerunner's Stratagem is something they have been working on building for quite some time. She informs all newcomers that they will not be present on this world that long: their exit will appear to them exactly when it's meant to, allowing them to meet the others who have been recruited to save their worlds. She provides each and every arrival with an earpiece, allowing them to communicate with the other Etrayans. Aurora suggests taking a bag full of supplies along with them, which she will fill with a few generic items as well as any specific items they may need: synthetic blood for vampires, protein bars for those who may burn through calories faster, medication for anyone who requires it. ![]() ⏵ aphaia ⏴ Aphaia is a neon-lit, chaotic planet. Cameras are everywhere, every action and inaction is judged by the 'audience'. Towering holograms advertise upcoming events while flashing leader boards track the most "popular" players. Contestants are thrown into challenges, many of which are games of skill, survival, and deception all to keep the viewers entertained. Not participating is an option! However, avoiding playing along and not putting on a show will quickly cause participants' score to go down, and scores that reach zero? Well. Unfortunately, there are only so many resources left on Aphaia. Their wildlife has died off, their planet is falling apart, and most others in this galaxy were either destroyed from the inside out, or warring planets trying to gain control of remaining resources destroyed them to avoid others getting involved. Their natural resources are depleted, and only those who manage to keep their scores up are given the luxury of having any supplies. As soon as one steps foot on Aphaia, as soon as they breathe, they intake nanotechnology which tracks their oxygen consumption, their food, everything they do or need. As soon as their scores reach zero? They disappear. There one moment, and completely gone the next. Their communicators go offline, and while everything they were carrying will be left behind, no one will be able to find them. They are simply--gone, erased from existence. This is a death and counts as a death as outlined in the game FAQ! Please keep this in mind. "Points" that go towards their total score will be assigned to contestants from the moment they drop down on planet. This will be visible using the HUD on their earpiece, and will be randomized at the beginning. For the sake of the TDM, we ask that no one be assigned Paragon initially, but you're free to use other ranks! The possible rankings are: 100: PARAGON 99-80: LUMINARY 79-70: CHAMPION 69-50: CONTENDER 49-30: UNDERLING 30-0: SHADE Ranks may change daily, or even hourly depending on the kind of situation one has found themselves in. Are they having a very public break up in which it comes out that they wronged their ex? They may go from a Champion to a Shade before they can even blink. Did they save a defenseless reporter from the big bad villain of the week? They may find themselves quickly elevated up to Luminary and given all the benefits that comes with being upper class. The world is their oyster, they only need to figure out how they'd like to utilize it! Aphaia is broken up into four districts. The Colosseum is a dynamic battle arena where combatants fight for entertainment, with shifting environments controlled by the audience. Victories earn points, while losses depend on performance. The Symposium is a lavish social hub for top contestants, where alliances and betrayals are made under the audience’s watchful eye. The Agora is the public center of Aphaia, where contestants engage with the audience through polls, interviews, and challenges to maintain popularity. It also houses the contestants in high-rise apartments. And Backalleys provide hidden spaces with intentional blind spots for secret dealings, though the Gamerunner is always aware of what happens there. ![]() ⏵ st★rlight soirée ⏴ Something special is happening in the Colosseum. Lights flicker as the arena shifts, rearranging itself into a grand, glittering ballroom - if a ballroom had stadium seating, paparazzi drones, and an ever-changing floor plan designed to disorient those within it. Silver chandeliers pulse with artificial starlight, their glow refracted through the crystalline floors. Music swells, but it sounds - unnatural. It thrums through your veins, setting your blood alight with the urge to dance. Why is the ballroom designed as if intentionally put together to throw off one's balance? Well, it's time for the Panopticon Prom, of course! The Panopticon Prom isn't just an adventure in dancing and impressing your most recent crush. It's a test of endurance, cunning, grace, and charm. The floor beneath your feet moves as if it has a mind of it's own, shifting to the beat like a living creature all of it's own. It tilts, undulates, even vanishing in sections to keep dancers on edge. After all, it's difficult to keep up one's pace if they're falling through a hole in the floor to the foam pit below. Drones zip through the air, catching every stumble, every misstep, and every attempt to throw off others on the dance floor. This is a competition, after all; and what fun is a dance battle without having the freedom to thwart someone else on their road to victory? The rules are simple:
![]() ⏵ casino royale ⏴ Out in the Agora, another popular quarterly event is being set up! The Casino Royale has been destroyed countless times, but it seems as if the Gamerunner just can't let it go - every time it gets knocked down, it gets rebuilt. There is one rule. One must take a turn at the revolving wheel just inside the door as their entry fee, and whatever the wheel lands on, they must maintain until they exit the building for the night. Sometimes, this is easier: an effect they have no control over and cannot undo even if they wanted to. Sometimes, this is more difficult: an assigned task they must complete. Failure to abide by the wheel once means receiving a penalty. Twice? Certain death if caught by any employee. The wheel's effects are as follows:
The casino is alive with the hum of conversation, the clink of glasses, and the steady whirl of the roulette wheels. Golden chandeliers cast a warm glow over velvet-lined tables, where fortunes are made and lost with the flick of a wrist. But something feels. . . off. The dealers never blink. The cards never seem random. And the house always wins - always. Maybe it's just paranoia, or maybe this casino is something more than just a den of chance. Tonight, you're not here just to play; you're here on a mission. You've arrived dressed to kill, blending into the sea of bodies filling the casino's floors. But you're not here to win points or boost your social standing - you're here to win intel. Somewhere in this casino is a single flash drive containing information on just how Aphaia maintains their system. The only problem? The House knows someone is coming for it. After all, they're well-aware of the game: whoever retrieves the flash drive will obtain information on how to flip the script, to change the rules of the game to fit their wants and needs, rather than following the current Gamerunner. After all, this is the Gamerunner's Stratagem that Aurora has sent them out on! Many apply for 'employment' within the Casino Royale in hopes of getting insider information on where the flash drive is hidden and what it looks like. However, it seems that even the employees have no clue where it has been hidden. This is an extension of our Aphaia Mission! We have included enough information in this post that catching up to current in game logs isn't necessary to play with it, but you are welcome to use any part of the Aphaia setting in your prompts as you'd like. Current players are also welcome to bring the events from this TDM into their in-game threads. This mission can happen outside of time as needed! Incoming characters will find themselves introduced to Aphaia as they arrive. Current characters may find Aurora calling on them to visit Aphaia after the current mission for the Gamerunner's Stratagem. Characters already in game are welcome to post to the TDM, too! Please mark them as current characters in your header. Threads can be kept as game canon as long as both characters get into the game! Please direct all questions relating to this log to our mod queries comment! All other questions can be directed to our FAQ. |

Aw, don't be like that. We are totally a team! By the end of this, we might even be best buds! [In Wade's mind, anyway. He had a way of wearing people down though, by ignoring every signal that the other person hated him, until eventually they just gave up and accepted their fate!]
The Ultimate Lifeform... [Wade repeats, the skepticism clear in his tone.] If you say so. A bit egotistical if you ask me, but it's important to believe in yourself.
I'm Deadpool. And you can call me that. Or Wade. Or Annoying Asshole. Take your pick.
no subject
Do not begin to annoy me, Asshole.
[ yeah, he'll take that name for 700. the more he can be rude the better, but maybe that's was all part of wade's plan. however, this name isn't one filled with endearment. ]
Focus on what's ahead of us.
[ the creatures crawl along the ground bumping into each other still, it's almost like they don't notice the duo there. shadow takes one step forward, and that one step causes all the lizards to stop moving and their eyes to roll on the ground and stare in his direction. ]
no subject
Focus. Right. That's definitely a thing I'm good at. [He gives a sage nod.
Was that at all convincing?]
Oooh, you made the metal dinosaurs maaaad. [He makes a little squeak sounds when half of the lizards snap to look at him and start to advance. Shit.] This stupid ax isn't going to do much against these guys.
Ah well.
[Wade shrugs and rushes forward in a battle cry. Self-preservation is not a strong suit.]
no subject
how old is this person again?
at first, he thinks to let them attack wade first and shadow follows in second, but that isn't his style. he'll handle things on his own as they come, and wade can do whatever it is wade does.
the hedgehog dashes forward, already catching up with the other before jumping towards one of the lizards. the sound of its body creaks once he steps on them, the group still rushing towards wade due to the noise he made. it seems that whatever noise the creatures make on their own it doesn't matter, so shadow standing on top of one doesn't cause them to react.
in one hand, a green energy appears around his hand until it turns into a spear as he stands it right down between the neck of the creature. it continues moving with only oil leaking out underneath it, but that doesn't stop their stampede towards the other. it would make sense if they're not alive in anyway, there must be a device that they need to hit specifically.
one of the lizards stop moving, their mouth parting as bullets begin to shoot out from it's throat like a gatling gun towards wade, as the bullets hit the ground, he'll see that they dissolve into some sort of acid... so he should avoid contact! now whether he can dodge that or not is the question as shadow pulls his spear out from the throat of the one he's standing before quickly slicing off the appendage which leaves a free head on the ground to be used.
with an annoyed groan, the hedgehog kicks the neck towards wade's side, possibly not nearby, but he did say his axe probably did nothing for these things. ]
no subject
He's just about to leap with the intent to crawl up the metal monster in front of him when a bullet imbeds right into his shoulder.] Ah, fuck me sideways!
[He can feel the bullet corroding his insides, but his healing factor is already regenerating what the acid is trying to eat away. It hurts like a son of a bitch.
And against his usual lack of judgment, he slides to the ground to avoid the continued spray.] That's just cheating! I didn't even get a gun! And these things get acid machine gun mouths? This is totally rigged!
[He rolls, nearly slipping and falling on his face from the oil slicking the ground. Scrambling, he grins over at Shadow, and slams his weapons hard onto a rock surrounded by the oil. He takes another bullet through the leg, with mercifully exits to explode in acid at his feet rather than inside him. Cursing, he keeps going, sparks starting to fly off the blade and rock at contact. Until finally-- FOOSH!
Wade only has moments to get out of the way, leaping away as the monster is engulfed in flames.]
no subject
[ shadow thinks it's less cheating and more so what's entertaining. as long as the crowd cheers behind them whether it's from wade's burst of flames or the lizards catching on fire, melting behind every step that they take. the hedgehog crosses his arms as he watches the wall of flames from a distance, quickly dashing to one of the creatures to kick them right into the added fire with a loud clunk.
it's useful, take advantage of what's their in order to make this challenge easier. he disappears in a moment, appearing right next to the idiot plugged with bullets, a cursory glance at the man's body to take note if he's about to die here. there's nothing about him that warrants medical care, but it's soon after that crimson eyes glance off to the side where the metal of the lizards that's pooled onto the ground begins to stretch.
as it spreads to link with the other melted metal, the substance begins to rebuild upon itself to create an even big lizard as though their previous efforts were for nothing, and this time, it's a metal lizard composed of two heads and a slim body like a snake as it slithers against the ground. its head shoots out, one towards wade and the other towards shadow, and since they're practically next to each other, the hedgehog is quick on his feet to avoid the impact of the heads crashing against the ground. ]
no subject
Wade shrugs off the acid bullets a bit slower than he might have normal ones, but it does little to slow him down all the same. His eyes follow Shadow's to the metal that seems to be merging.] Holy, T-1000, Batma- ahck!
[Wade is sent flying, losing his weapon as the head flings him backward, nearly falling right into a pit in the process-- only just catching the edge with his fingers to slowly claw his way back up and out.]
no subject
shadow takes another step back, one of the heads looming towards him as a roar clatters out from its throat. the hedgehog appears unimpressed, standing in place to tempt the beast to come to him.
this will give wade some time to get himself together, because due to the dust and debris flying everywhere, one head has a target while the other does not. the one head which watches shadow with interest has acid that slips between its teeth, dropping onto the ground and sizzling what it comes into contact with.
it's tail wags, hitting the ground nearby where wade is before it rests not knowing that the man is even there. visible cords and wires stick out, sparks of electricity visible and seems to be the only spot where there's nothing covering the beast's insides. ]
no subject
This is gonna hurt me more than it hurts you. [But getting hurt is his specialty! He leaps on the tail, scaling up it toward the sparks and open wires. Wade doesn't hesitate and takes the blade down on the open insides of the creature. The electricity shoots up the sword and then through his body. He wouldn't have been surprised if, like some cartoon gag, he's getting electrocuted so completely that Shadow and the audience could see his skeleton. The beast howls, spitting acid as it flails its tail trying to shake Wade off. Although he can't let go even if he tried, his muscles refusing to move from their locked in position. Wade can't even move his mouth-- likely much to Shadow's relief.]
no subject
how could they pair him with this idiot?
the beast responding in such a way as the lights flick back on is good, but the acid that drops down, bad for some of the audience members who like the front row. shadow dodges every drop with swift movement, a speed that shows him in a different place every time you blink — really, how did he get there! the monster thrashes, and he notes the way wade still remains on the tip as the creature goes to smack the appendage against the wall to try and get him off.
all of a sudden, he's right next to wade on the tip of the tail which didn't take him any time at all to be.
wordlessly, the hedgehog delivers a heavy kick into the man's gut just to see him flying into the air and remove him off the sword. ]
no subject
Wade hits the wall, sliding down it into a sizzling slump. His clothes are a mess, torn and burned, but still holding together enough not to fall off his body. Which is lucky-- no one wants to see all that.] Uyuhrghh... [Yes, he's still trying to talk. Give him a second, and he'll be right back to his usual annoying self. The robot seems to be slowing, sparking, melting, jerking as it shorts out-- yet it's still moving.]
no subject
did that idiot really do something. the hedgehog glances to the side to see where wade had landed. there's a part of him that doesn't want to acknowledge it, but he must be useful for something if that's the case. he was in the right spot and the right time, and the consequences haven't killed him yet.
the monster's claws come down, hitting the ground which is enough to cause it to shake underneath them. it doesn't retract fast enough, and the hedgehog jumps on top to quickly run up the length of it, a chaos spear digging into visible wires where electricity snaps and pops underneath a slightly uncovered panel. again, it roars out loud, it's body what was it that human had used to cause such a reaction? the tail is no longer popping sparks from what he had used on the wires, and so is the arm, but maybe somewhere by its feet could be another set to keep it from moving.
besides, it's no longer swinging its tail, or able to use this arm that it had... if anything, shadow believes that individual on the ground will find something to keep it from moving. ]
no subject
He stumbles toward it again, looking around for anything to use against it.] Don't suppose you'd be swayed by the power of friendship? [It's claw comes down again at his feet, and Wade nearly falls down on his ass.] I'll take that as a no...
[He looks up, watching Shadow rip through the beast. More open wires. A panel.] No pain, no gain. [Wade shakes himself off, and this time... he's got no weapon but his bared scarred and charred hand.] Hopefully I don't pick up anymore fucked up kinks after this- [And he jams his hand into the open wires in the panel and just starts ripping, tearing shit out and digging deeper until-- it's Part Duex: Electric Boogaloo!]
no subject
that's on the money, especially with the creature twitching roughly in place as the other punches into the wires. instantly there's a slow and steady beep until it begins to pick up, and shadow's ears twitch. quickly, he grinds up on the railing of the creature's arm up, and then down the spine until he's onto the unmoving tail. he's quick to glance around for the idiot, finding where he is, and is it too much for him to use a long distance weapon? yes? okay.
his shoes activate, jets allowing him quicker movement to rush over to the human (or so he thinks) to pull him out of his electrical execution. shadow takes some of the damage, and as much as it runs through his body, he doesn't stop until he can bring the other along with him out of the arena, and instead into the crowd on the opposite side of the stands.
as soon as he drops him, that's when a loud explosion can be heard engulfing the other side of the arena that they aren't at. ]
