TDM 007
content warnings for this TDM include: violence, potential death, body horror, physical transformation, loss of senses, loss of autonomy ![]() ⏵ arrival⏴ Arrival does not happen as Aurora usually plans for it. New characters are introduced to the AI, then informed of a mission that they are required to participate in before they can return to their home base of Etraya. A world called Aphaia is falling apart, and while there is nothing they can do to resolve this broken world, they can participate in the Gamerunner's Stratagem. Their mission is simple: step through the glowing purple portal that Aurora creates once they've had time to listen to her, and survive until a similar portal reopens in front of them, allowing them to return to Etraya. The Gamerunner's Stratagem is something they have been working on building for quite some time. She informs all newcomers that they will not be present on this world that long: their exit will appear to them exactly when it's meant to, allowing them to meet the others who have been recruited to save their worlds. She provides each and every arrival with an earpiece, allowing them to communicate with the other Etrayans. Aurora suggests taking a bag full of supplies along with them, which she will fill with a few generic items as well as any specific items they may need: synthetic blood for vampires, protein bars for those who may burn through calories faster, medication for anyone who requires it. ![]() ⏵ aphaia ⏴ Aphaia is a neon-lit, chaotic planet. Cameras are everywhere, every action and inaction is judged by the 'audience'. Towering holograms advertise upcoming events while flashing leader boards track the most "popular" players. Contestants are thrown into challenges, many of which are games of skill, survival, and deception all to keep the viewers entertained. Not participating is an option! However, avoiding playing along and not putting on a show will quickly cause participants' score to go down, and scores that reach zero? Well. Unfortunately, there are only so many resources left on Aphaia. Their wildlife has died off, their planet is falling apart, and most others in this galaxy were either destroyed from the inside out, or warring planets trying to gain control of remaining resources destroyed them to avoid others getting involved. Their natural resources are depleted, and only those who manage to keep their scores up are given the luxury of having any supplies. As soon as one steps foot on Aphaia, as soon as they breathe, they intake nanotechnology which tracks their oxygen consumption, their food, everything they do or need. As soon as their scores reach zero? They disappear. There one moment, and completely gone the next. Their communicators go offline, and while everything they were carrying will be left behind, no one will be able to find them. They are simply--gone, erased from existence. This is a death and counts as a death as outlined in the game FAQ! Please keep this in mind. "Points" that go towards their total score will be assigned to contestants from the moment they drop down on planet. This will be visible using the HUD on their earpiece, and will be randomized at the beginning. For the sake of the TDM, we ask that no one be assigned Paragon initially, but you're free to use other ranks! The possible rankings are: 100: PARAGON 99-80: LUMINARY 79-70: CHAMPION 69-50: CONTENDER 49-30: UNDERLING 30-0: SHADE Ranks may change daily, or even hourly depending on the kind of situation one has found themselves in. Are they having a very public break up in which it comes out that they wronged their ex? They may go from a Champion to a Shade before they can even blink. Did they save a defenseless reporter from the big bad villain of the week? They may find themselves quickly elevated up to Luminary and given all the benefits that comes with being upper class. The world is their oyster, they only need to figure out how they'd like to utilize it! Aphaia is broken up into four districts. The Colosseum is a dynamic battle arena where combatants fight for entertainment, with shifting environments controlled by the audience. Victories earn points, while losses depend on performance. The Symposium is a lavish social hub for top contestants, where alliances and betrayals are made under the audience’s watchful eye. The Agora is the public center of Aphaia, where contestants engage with the audience through polls, interviews, and challenges to maintain popularity. It also houses the contestants in high-rise apartments. And Backalleys provide hidden spaces with intentional blind spots for secret dealings, though the Gamerunner is always aware of what happens there. ![]() ⏵ st★rlight soirée ⏴ Something special is happening in the Colosseum. Lights flicker as the arena shifts, rearranging itself into a grand, glittering ballroom - if a ballroom had stadium seating, paparazzi drones, and an ever-changing floor plan designed to disorient those within it. Silver chandeliers pulse with artificial starlight, their glow refracted through the crystalline floors. Music swells, but it sounds - unnatural. It thrums through your veins, setting your blood alight with the urge to dance. Why is the ballroom designed as if intentionally put together to throw off one's balance? Well, it's time for the Panopticon Prom, of course! The Panopticon Prom isn't just an adventure in dancing and impressing your most recent crush. It's a test of endurance, cunning, grace, and charm. The floor beneath your feet moves as if it has a mind of it's own, shifting to the beat like a living creature all of it's own. It tilts, undulates, even vanishing in sections to keep dancers on edge. After all, it's difficult to keep up one's pace if they're falling through a hole in the floor to the foam pit below. Drones zip through the air, catching every stumble, every misstep, and every attempt to throw off others on the dance floor. This is a competition, after all; and what fun is a dance battle without having the freedom to thwart someone else on their road to victory? The rules are simple:
![]() ⏵ casino royale ⏴ Out in the Agora, another popular quarterly event is being set up! The Casino Royale has been destroyed countless times, but it seems as if the Gamerunner just can't let it go - every time it gets knocked down, it gets rebuilt. There is one rule. One must take a turn at the revolving wheel just inside the door as their entry fee, and whatever the wheel lands on, they must maintain until they exit the building for the night. Sometimes, this is easier: an effect they have no control over and cannot undo even if they wanted to. Sometimes, this is more difficult: an assigned task they must complete. Failure to abide by the wheel once means receiving a penalty. Twice? Certain death if caught by any employee. The wheel's effects are as follows:
The casino is alive with the hum of conversation, the clink of glasses, and the steady whirl of the roulette wheels. Golden chandeliers cast a warm glow over velvet-lined tables, where fortunes are made and lost with the flick of a wrist. But something feels. . . off. The dealers never blink. The cards never seem random. And the house always wins - always. Maybe it's just paranoia, or maybe this casino is something more than just a den of chance. Tonight, you're not here just to play; you're here on a mission. You've arrived dressed to kill, blending into the sea of bodies filling the casino's floors. But you're not here to win points or boost your social standing - you're here to win intel. Somewhere in this casino is a single flash drive containing information on just how Aphaia maintains their system. The only problem? The House knows someone is coming for it. After all, they're well-aware of the game: whoever retrieves the flash drive will obtain information on how to flip the script, to change the rules of the game to fit their wants and needs, rather than following the current Gamerunner. After all, this is the Gamerunner's Stratagem that Aurora has sent them out on! Many apply for 'employment' within the Casino Royale in hopes of getting insider information on where the flash drive is hidden and what it looks like. However, it seems that even the employees have no clue where it has been hidden. This is an extension of our Aphaia Mission! We have included enough information in this post that catching up to current in game logs isn't necessary to play with it, but you are welcome to use any part of the Aphaia setting in your prompts as you'd like. Current players are also welcome to bring the events from this TDM into their in-game threads. This mission can happen outside of time as needed! Incoming characters will find themselves introduced to Aphaia as they arrive. Current characters may find Aurora calling on them to visit Aphaia after the current mission for the Gamerunner's Stratagem. Characters already in game are welcome to post to the TDM, too! Please mark them as current characters in your header. Threads can be kept as game canon as long as both characters get into the game! Please direct all questions relating to this log to our mod queries comment! All other questions can be directed to our FAQ. |

"And here we have Maria Robotnik!"
those words echo in his ears, again he shakes his head, no... it's those thoughts of his, selfish desires, and his own failures presenting to him scenarios that can't be true.
"A young human girl from the planet Earth, afflicted with a terminal illness!"
in his chest, sometimes something inside trembles, it feels like it may crack in two. there are days he doesn't believe he has a heart, if he does, it must be hiding behind that inky black substance within the core of him. the dna of an alien constricting his weakness so tightly that nothing can penetrate it, but something thumps with fear or is it relief? he doesn't know, it's something he wants and rejects at the same time, but what is this place if not something to toy with him.
a brand new world that takes pleasure at using him for their amusement, something he realized at the start. that's why he can't trust what's being said to him, only a fool would allow such words to have control over their actions. she can't be here, she's gone, she's out of his reach to a place where he can only dream of being. death is an option that's not available to him, no matter how many times he throws himself into danger out of his own anger... his body regenerates, fixes itself, takes him away from the chance of ever seeing her again.
"Will a cure be found to save her life?"
the outside world means nothing to him, he ignores it as his eyes widen staring at the ground. his failures audible in his ears, that was what he was meant to be. that's what this place is playing at, it's going this to punish him. he wonders has he lost enough points to warrant this, maybe he did, this could be what he deserves. he's getting to the point where he's blocking out the sound of the earbud, the automated voice growing distance as shadow slowly separates himself from the reality around him.
"Only ████ will te██!"
his hand has tightly gripped the machine in his hand, wanting to crush it to keep it from speaking. he shakes his head, his eyes looks up, and at the billboards is a young woman with bright, blue unsure eyes as she looks left and right.
stop it.
stop it.
stop it.
it can't be her, he knows it's not her. she can't be here, not in a place like this. he hasn't realized that he's already started dashing off, his speed zipping past those with ease, some individuals knocking into one another as he's familiar with the backdrop. if he knows she's not here then why does he move forward? it doesn't make sense, but memories, desires, the need to confirm what he's lost... he needs to know that he's lost again, just knowing that she doesn't exist, that this is a ploy.
when it's about maria, he can't help but go to her. no matter the situation, even in his dreams he chases when he knows that he'll wake up in a world without her. he has to see this for himself, he'll make those pay who dare use her image in vain. that young girl is like an angel from heaven, shadow has never been religious, but if praying were an option to have her then he would learn. as a creation of science by man, those who played the role of god. to shadow, that means nothing, he was born, brought into the world with a purpose, but then he made the mistake of being unable to complete his reason for existence.
he doesn't hear anything but his own thoughts, his "heart" thumping loudly in his chest, reverberating in his ears as he runs, and runs and runs. there's people in the way, he can see the crowd, the cameras that hover above taking in something at the center. he jumps, his body hits against each camera to skip over the plethora of people below. each machine falls to the ground with a small explosion, the video feed emitting from the billboards starts to disappear and turn to static.
shadow's points lower, and lower, and lower.
...
he drops down to his knees, pushing himself up, his eyes scanning the area as he notices the group growing thicker. those in the way won't move, and his reprieve of whether this is all a ploy hidden from him only irritates him. ]
Move.
[ shadow doesn't ask again as a loud growl comes from his muzzle, fangs visible as the sound of electricity crackles by his hand, chaos energy turning into a spear that he uses to move those out of his way. he doesn't care how his arms move, he doesn't care how the splash of a warm substance coats his body when moving people out of the way. sometimes it penetrates, another time it slices through, but the bodies that drop down against the ground are something he walks over until he makes it to the center. screams of mercy, fear rushes through those that back away.
they yell run, they cry out their last breath, but the one offense that causes his anger to rise is the moment one of the creature's reaches for a familiar person. whether this is a dream, she is an illusion, or just a figment of his imagination.
he can't handle it, his quills standing up as he dashes forward, using his chaos spear to quickly slice at the arm of whatever is holding onto her. blood splatters from the body disconnecting from the source which spurs out onto him, and probably onto anyone else nearby. intimidating those around, on the billboard there's an image of shadow that appears with his points visible until the final number falls onto three.
anyone who dares come close is met with a snarl, the energy in his hand growing brighter, sparking as though ready to lose control. because when he turns his head to look at who he saw only moments ago, it really is that same girl, and at this point he wonders when the dream will be over. when the audience will back away. his expression never dulls, it remains wild and irritable like a monster ready to strike if one wrong move is made. ]

She turns away, intending to flee when someone or something grabs her arm. Though before she can pull away or say anything the grip goes slack and she feels something splash against her back as she covers her face. The crowd presses close and she is shoved away from the disturbance. Already dizzy and lightheaded, the girl cries out as she tries to push away to safety, her pulse roaring in her ears. Though when she glanced back, she saw a flash of familiar black and crimson between a pair of bodies. No....she had to be seeing things. She knew sometimes when in relapse her mind could get affected and she'd hallucinate. But...]
No wait! Stop! [She was lost in the crush of bodies once more and she had no strength to fight against it. Even a full grown healthy human wouldn't be able to force themself through the force of nature that was a stampeding crush of a crowd. Thankfully the direction she was moving was bringing her closer to the edges of the busy square as people worked on fleeing to get away. Surely it couldn't be him!? Her vision swam and the world tilted crazily as she was pushed along. Her breaths gasped into burning lungs. She'd never been so terrified in her entire life.]

they speak that if he continues, his count will drop to zero, and once it drops then they won't have to deal with him anymore. however, his number flips between three and four, as though there's something in the entire crowd that's masochistic enough to enjoy what's happening at the moment. to shadow, it means nothing when someone comes in his way to stand between him and the running crowd.
another snarl, wrinkles come towards his nose and brows furrow in agitation as the blade in his hand quickly swipes at the individual, cutting them half, and the upper part of their body slides down until it thumps onto the ground lifelessly. the hedgehog almost seems to be on a rampage, the irritation building inside of him as he looks around in search of the young girl he saw before.
she's finally outside his sight, probably hidden between this large crowd.
blood covers the ground as the hedgehog takes a step forward, his eyes wide as he looks around in search. where.
where?
where?
he doesn't know where she's went, or if she was even real. could he have been seeing things, were these just those memories that taunt him?
that's when he zips through various aliens, pushing them out of the way with a desperate look that captures his expression. he's unable to search for anything else as each step against the ground leaves behind a trail of blood in his wake. ]

She saw a space between two buildings not too far away. Maybe she could hide there. Lowering trembling hands from her tear-stained face, she realized one of them had a strange sticky substance and splatters of it traveled up her arm. She felt sick. Was that...blood? The color wasn't quite right but....
She just had> to get out of here.
Wheezing and leaning against the wall, she staggered towards the alley she had spotted. She had to get somewhere to hide.]

is that why he's unable to see her, why she's no longer around him? it's not as though he can feel her, but that look on her face, those innocent... blue eyes. was it only his memory taking over, his irritation, or maybe the slowly growing insanity that he suffers in this life.
he continues dashing through the area, from one place to another, and when his eyes fall upon the individual whose arm he removed will he jump to grab at their neck. his air shoes keeping him in the air as he finds his grip around them tightening. ]
Where?
[ luckily they have three more throats to work with because they don't know, they scream and four of their arms begin to push him away. he thinks to use his chaos spear to stab into them, but that's a waste of time, instead he releases them to jump back down to the ground.
...
even if he asks where, who would know? he can't trust anything said to him at all. only his touch will be able to tell him the truth, because even now he doesn't know if he can trust his eyes. ]

No! Nononono! [This couldn't be right! Surely this was a mistake! Shadow couldn't be the cause of all this?? The dark crimson and black figure dropped down to the ground and turned and she saw an expression on the familiar face that nearly made him unrecognizable. Tears filled her eyes and she almost couldn't stand upright as she clung to the side of the building.
There was a whirring sound, and she realized one of the camera drones was honing in on her, and this time rather than try and hide, she glared right at it. Her hair was in disarray, her face pale white and streaked with tears with a smear of the substance from her hand on her cheek. She cared about none of this as her image flashed up on some of the screens bordering the Agora. She had to know if it was him. That this wasn't some kind of nightmare she couldn't wake from.]
SHADOW!?
[She screamed, not realizing that the drone would pick up her audio and her shrill voice echoed around the square. It was laden with fear, horror, hope. So many things. A plea.]
Shadow please!
no subject
what gives him pause is a voice yelling at him, it comes from all around, and shadow turns left then right. his eyes raise up to check the billboards where he meets the the face of the young girl. her pain visible in her face, the way she screams his name appalled, as though she is begging him.
his eyes widen until they lose their shock and shift into something reluctant. he can't even keep his head up to look at the screen, somehow, he's unable to look at that face of hers because it causes him unrest. his heart feels pained because could a world like this use her against him like this, if so, it almost feels like it's working.
as much as shadow wants to bite back that this is just a dream, he can't, and the breeze that passes through makes him aware of the substance stuck to his fur and skin, a little cold against his body. there are various people crawling away from him afraid.
he stands in place, frozen, as much as he hates it. shadow looks back up, the background isn't something he's familiar with. he can't go to that place just by his memory, but if anything, she needs to stop pushing herself. she has to stop exerting so much energy, does she know? part of him wants this to be a cruel joke, that this unwavering energy doesn't backfire on her so tell him that this is... just a bad dream he's found himself in. ]
no subject
She wavered, clutched the wall, and continued. Eyes bright as she stared into the lens of the drone. Red spots flared on her pale cheeks. Almost feverish.]
Please...[She implored again, determined to go to him, if he wasn't going to come find her. She didn't realize that some people in the area were stopping to watch, catching wind that these two seemed to have history. Maria hadn't followed how much points she had thus far since it hadn't been long since she arrived. But this kind of drama was just the sort that could raise ratings. Though none of this was on her mind. Her focus was on her best friend. Splattered with lord knows what and standing alone.] This isn't like you. Not like the Shadow I know and love. You are my best friend! Who watched the Earth with me! We were going to explore it together!
[Her voice was breathless and rambling, but it rang with her strength of spirit through the Agora. It was embarrassing that this was all broadcasted, but she just wanted to throw her arms around him right now.] Show me a sign that this is real. That this isn't some bad dream. [With pure Robotnik stubbornness, she pushed away from the wall and started making her way back the way she had come. The drone followed close behind as she started to walk with clenched fists and head held high back towards the Agora square. All of this broadcasted to various screens in the Agora.]
no subject
yet, his ears fall flat against his head, something submissive that made people gasp in shock. is it true that someone as violent as that is capable of anything aside from pain and violence? this is the sort of drama that brings ratings, such acts are forgivable simply because this is probably a scene to die for.
shadow watches the screen, he notes the substance on her body, grateful that it's not her own. it's fine if it's anyone else's, that says physically... no, maria always hurts no matter what. physically, and now mentally because of his actions. the spear in his hand disappears in an instance, and shadow takes a step forward. ]
...
[ he doesn't want this to be real, rather it should be a bad dream. she shouldn't have to see him like this again. he's speechless, but that doesn't matter either as he notes the way she forces herself to return to some place. in the background, he notes familiar bodies that rest upon the ground, not too far from where this all started. ]
M... Maria.
[ his voice is softer, the video feed floating over top of him reflecting this gentleness in another board. shadow doesn't sound irritated or angry, he's more so worried, as if he doesn't want her to do this. ]
You... have to stop. Don't push yourself. M... [ he takes another step forward.
he upset her, he's the reason why she's doing any of this. returning, stepping in whatever substance coats the ground.
and yet, the scene is welcomed. ]
Maria!!
[ despite feeling as though he's stuck in place, his feet move again, air shoes activating to pick up the pace to run directly to her. this isn't a place for her.
he wants it to be a bad dream, but...
shadow recalls all that he's promised her, the chance of being together, exploring earth and watching all the sights. oh how he mourns knowing he's seen so much without her, but he'd do anything to be with her to see it all again.
this place isn't earth, nor is this something he wanted to show her. if anything... he's made a mistake due to this. ]
I need better icons lmao
She saw Shadow start to skate towards her and he called her name. Throwing caution to the wind, she broke into a run; blue shoes hitting the pavement audibly and her golden blonde hair flying behind her. It was as if the previous carnage didn't exist, her focus was entirely on moving and on him. She tries to call his name, but a choked sob escapes instead as she makes a beeline straight for him; arms outstretched with the intention of throwing herself into him with her entire body and squeeze her arms around him as tightly as she could. If her knees hit the ground during all this (which was likely), she wouldn't even notice.]
its time to open that one shadow gen manga there were so many cute marias
it doesn't happen, the warmth of her body settles into his arms, cradling the young girl in his grasp. part of him is... shocked, unsure, confused, but he cannot ignore the concern that settles on his face when he looks at her. the substance on his fur stains her clothes, as he slowly comes to a stop, making sure not to move too fast to ensure he doesn't cause her any harm. ]
M...
[ he wants to say her name again, but he's still taken aback by this. the fact that he can touch her, that she's the same size as always... she's never been heavy, but due to her disease, even her eating had trials and errors. if only he could ask has she been taking care of herself, but... she's not even supposed to be here.
if only his body would shake, but no... instead his heart aches, he feels a pain inside of his chest. ]
Maria... I...
[ he holds her between the bodies laying against the ground, a small dinging as gained points show on the billboards. ] ...I...
no subject
She squeezed herself to Shadow tighter and buried her head against his, sobbing, her entire body limp in his hold and quivering with the release of all the emotion that had been gripping her since she had woken up in that strange hospital room. Fingers curled into his fur as she tried to tell him she was here. That she loved him no matter what. That she had been so scared since all of this started. But it came out more in broken whispered words than something coherent.]
no subject
she sobs, and he understands his mistakes, she hates when he's violent, but that's all he's ever known. he wants to say he's been doing better, but the slaughter probably doesn't amount to that. he doesn't want to lie to her, but when his mouth parts open, it closes after since he doesn't know what to say.
she's upset by him? he hears her crying, his ears twitch yet again on the billboards. ]
I... won't let them hurt you.
[ it comes as a promise, one that shadow means from the bottom of his heart. his grip on her tightens only a little, but not enough to cause any discomfort because he doesn't want to harm her.
... ]
...I... didn't mean to hurt you.
no subject
[She lifted her head, keeping a hold on to Shadow around his shoulders with one arm while she shakily wiped her face and worked on trying to control her breathing. Her lungs were still burning a little and she felt a little lightheaded. Her heart was racing still. She couldn't help but notice Shadow had more substances splattered on his fur. It was easy enough to put two and two together when she saw some shapes laying on the ground in the square around them. Her eyes widened in fear and horror. Though she wasn't scared of Shadow. She never would be.]
Shadow...you...you did this? [She looked back, resting a hand on his cheek and shook her head.] Please you mustn't! It....you could get in serious trouble. [She had no idea what the consequences would be on this world, but she knew that murder in general was wrong.] No one has hurt me. It was just so overwhelming...and I was j-just scared. [She tried to ignore the fact that this was all being broadcasted like some horrible reality show.] Defend yourself or me if you must but I don't want you to...[She choked on the word, breath hitching as she idly stroked the side of his head with her fingers, trying to seek a source of comfort.] to...k-kill a-anyone.
no subject
[ shadow responds quickly, not so that she sees his way, he never asks for that. what he wants to admit is that... or does he want to at this point? say that he killed those around to defend her.
he doesn't like it.
his dreams are worse, they take her away, she dies, rinse and repeat he tends to suffer those nightmares. he doesn't want to have them anymore, but what if those fears turned into reality? what if they did something unimaginably cruel to her then he wouldn't be able to control himself, some days he does tend to lose who he is supposed to be. ]
It doesn't matter to me if I get in trouble, I will go against all odds for you.
[ he expresses this genuinely, he will become the enemy of everything around them simply for her. even now, his ratings may go up and down for the threat he speaks aloud, but he means it as he leans into her tough.
she feels so warm, she feels so real. what is he to do about this, he should take her away from here, find some place so that she can rest and no longer have to see this place. with maria so close, she can feel the way her heart thumps erratically in her chest, and he instantly feels the need that he has to calm her down. ]
Your safety is what matters.
[ those words are spoken softly, gently for her to hear, but it still ends up being broadcasted to those that watch. it's not about hiding his feelings, no, it's about keeping any anger or hatred from put of his words so that she can hear how calm he is.
he has to calm her down someway. ]
no subject
She rested her head against his again, though now she wasn't sobbing like before or grasping him so tightly. The exertion was catching up to her. The soft tones in his voice did warm her heart though.] I-I be okay. I just need somewhere quiet to sit and...process all this.
no subject
...
after losing her so many times, all he can do is fight when it comes to her afraid that any hesitance or blind eye will be the end.
he can't risk it. ]
Okay.
[ accepting of that, he'll jump into the air allowing his air shoes to activate to keep her out of the close proximity of his actions. one hand settles over her head, keeping the girl's face against his chest so that she's unable to see what's below. ]
I'll find you a place.
no subject
She was mostly quiet as she was aware of them moving quickly, and only spoke up once they slowed.]
Did Aurora just recently summon you to Etraya too?
no subject
[ it's a quick answer, he recounts the brief explanation given to him by her and how his mission was split between saving his own world, learning about this one while being told they wouldn't be here so long.
his speed is a modest pace, making sure not to go too fast to worry her. how much has he done wrong to make her fret... ]
As well as another from our world.
[ which concludes that it's not just him and her who were unlucky. ]
...Do you believe what was told to you by her?
no subject
She was quiet a moment at Shadow's question, thinking on it. Holding on tightly as they moved.] Everything happened so fast I just...hm. It's just so unbelievable. At least at first. She told me that I was brought to Etraya to save our world. That I would be...tested. To see if our world was worthy to save. I can see why you would be picked, but I don't know why I would be.
Aurora seemed rather nice though. I didn't get any bad impressions from her. She seemed genuine. Odd though. I'm not sure what to believe since I'm still processing it all. But if she had meant to harm us I believe she would have done so right when we woke up.
no subject
No. [ he follows up with no explanation only because it would simply lead into other uncharted territory.
but, in a world where there are so familiar structures or advantages that shadow knows, it feels like a foolish mistake to keep information hidden. ]
You don't know her, but her name... is Blaze the Cat.
[ unlike some idiots, her actions are thought out in a way he sees her unable to trouble him. because of her personality, she does seem willing to help those who are in need. ]
...It might be because of your love for that world.
[ shadow's feelings aren't as positive as hers, but he does do what he can to keep the planet out of harm's way.
some actions aren't what others want, much like what he did in the center of the city, but everything is a threat here if they've been pulled away with a threat looming about their world in peril. ]
If you believe she is no threat, then I'll keep it in mind.
no subject
Shadow's explanation of why she could have been chosen, made her smile a little against his fur, but it was a sad expression.] Well...I'll do what I can to help. I don't want to see our world destroyed. [She would do whatever she could in her ability. She wasn't a fighter or very physical, but she had her mind and she was intelligent enough with a strong spirit and sense of will. She would endure.]
I'm more curious about this 'Echo' that was mentioned. They appear to be the mastermind of all this. I can't say whether they are a threat or not because of lack of information however. Aurora said that this 'Echo' was the one responsible for bringing us all here from the different universes. [She wondered where Shadow was taking her. Did he have more chances to explore than she did? She trusted him implicitly though and knew that he would find a safe place.]

[ shadow would rather take it upon himself, even though that is the world that maria loves, and of course, she'd want to offer a helping hand.
he doesn't want her to push herself, even if it's for the earth she had spent years yearning for during her time alive. something about the thought of her working extra hard when sick doesn't sit right with him, it gives him worry, and even though she seems stable now...
what if something goes wrong? ]
...I'll eliminate them if they are.
[ there's an "if", he knows if they're not then he'll try to abide by the rules, but he's wary and cautious when he's with her.
shadow finds a location where there are less people than before, little foot traffic is what matters to him as he lowers himself down to the ground. there's an empty bench that he proceeds to set her on, and once he does will shadow take a step back to assess the situation. ]
Are you hurt? Hungry? Thirsty?
[ he noticed the points that he accumulated through that reunion, as much as he hated that they took advantage of his emotions to do that... he can spend what he's gained, get her something to eat... ]

She closes her eyes briefly so she could work on calming her heart and breath. Already much improved since Shadow had scooped her up and whisked her away from the square. She still felt a little lightheaded, but she felt a lot safer. His questions caused her to open her eyes and regard him. He was standing in front of her, clearly concerned about her well being.]
No I'm not hurt. Just a little dirty....[She reassured quickly, looking down at her blue dress and sweater that was soiled in some places. She tried not to think too hard that it was alien blood.] Ah, right. I was given this before I was sent here. [She unslung the small backpack that was on her back and placed it on the bench.] I am a little thirsty. Maybe there is some food and water in here. [The girl proceeded to unzip it and look around inside. There was what looked like some bars and a couple bottles of water. What looked like a first aid kit and a blanket. There was some other random small objects but she honed in on the water and pulled out the bottle.] Here we go!
Were you hurt? I think there's a first aid kit in here.

he's done good in not allowing his ears to draw back and rest on top of his head, withholding his emotions is the easiest thing he can do at the moment. especially his sadness, his feelings like anger rush from him like a running faucet, but those more sensitive ones like sadness.
it's easy to lock those away. ]
No, I am not hurt.
[ she has something to drink and that's more than he could ask for. instead of leaving to find her anything else, he sits down on the concrete to look up at her. ]
You should save it for yourself.
[ knowing her, she'd probably choose to give it to someone who needs it more in her eyes. sometimes he wishes she was a little more selfish like him, but... it's surreal to look at her like this, to know she's here again.
but the duration of how long? ... that is what scares him the most. ]
