Walking around in an empty city covered in greenery like that's supposed to make them feel better somehow. Adaine doesn't like it. It has neither the ancient forest feeling of Fallinel, nor the comfortable suburban crowding of Elmville, nor the hustle or bustle of an urban metropolis like Bastion City. It's like someone tried to meld the three feelings together and came out with something that's worse than each one separately.
Finally, they reach the apartments, but Adaine puts a hand out to stop Riz before he can go inside. She blinks, activating her arcane sight to peek into the ethereal plane. She has to blink hard two, three times before it finally works, but when she does, she sees through the doors and walls of the building before her, getting an early glimpse of what's waiting inside.
Her eyes widen, just a fraction, and she lowers her volume as she warms Riz, ] There's something in the lobby. Something large.
