In the beginning, the vigilantes who would later become Heroes didn't live long. They knew what they were getting into; it was a volunteer sort of thing with no supervision. All the previous wielders of One For All died young in battle... except for one. He died of "old age" at 40, the cause remaining a mystery until very recently. All Might, however, is well over that age. He lacked that deciding factor.

All Might survived long enough to usher in an age of Hero-saturated society with low crime rates. However, it was inevitable that a future won by combat let some things (and people) fall through the cracks. Izuku and All Might determined that fighting with so much self-sacrifice and sweeping society's problems under the rug was unsustainable, but it's Izuku who carries the torch.

Izuku's face pinches awkwardly. Shigaraki keeps saying he wants to destroy him. "I don't know about 'have,' but we'll see. Luck won't help if I don't put in the work."

The tops of the trees rustle in unison with a slight breeze going right over Izuku's head.

"Let's say you get back to your home. What are your plans?" Surely they can't be as harrowing as his own.
