"Are you naught but spectacle?" Barnabas chides him, though it isn't that Joshua's attacks did nothing. The beast's roars of pain and thrashing told much of their effects. Still, the overwrought nature of his magic, needing to rely upon it to be effective against the creature, says much about his ability as a combatant in Barnabas' view. As the beasts flames rapidly lick at the air once more, Barnabas is quick to moveβhis boot heel landing square on the snout of the lion as he kicks off of it to scale upward.
With his sword in hand, he uses the blast of Joshua's dissipating fire as cover to bring a blind strike to the ram-head's eyes. The blade gouging them with a precise swing of the blade, earning his efforts a pained and icy shriek.
Keeping his balance upon the back of the bucking beast, Barnabas is quick to parry the dragon-head's jaws as it attempts to rend him with its fangs. The ram head, however, flails and swings aimless and wild, missing Barnabas, but striking the chimera's sides and the neck of the dragon's head with its horns in its desperation. All the while, the lion head shoots off fire at Joshuaβfor at least he's something it can see.
